Vidyanjali- A School Volunteer Programme
Vidyanjali is an amalgamation of the words
- VIDYA – means correct knowledge
- ANJALI- means offering with both hands
Vidyanjali, an initiative by MHRD to boost community and private sector participation in government and government aided schools. The project was launched by Smt. Smriti Irani, Union Minister for Education in June 2016 under SARVA SHIKSHA ABHIYAN by the Department of School Education and Literacy. Under the programme volunteers including NRI’s, Retired teachers, Government officials, Defence professionals can offer their services for students.
Vidyanjali has two verticals:
- “Participate in school Services/activity.”
- “contribute”- assets/material/equipment.
Recently the Government has launched a portal called Vidyanjali 2.0.
